Our Community
If you are considering moving to our area,
we would like to tell you why we and so many other
people choose Elizabethton and Carter County.
Our community is a small one with a big heart.
We frequently participate in and exceed goals
in fundraising drives such as the United Way and
Relay for Life.
The community is very active in
local schools and sports, keeping in mind that
these growing kids are our future. When tragedies
strike, such as the flood of 1998, we pull together
to take care of the ones that have been left destitute.
This is the type of community where you can walk
down the street and get a hello or a smile from
someone whether they know you or not.
We are proud to have our local
landmark, the Covered Bridge which was built in
1882. This bridge is one of the few original covered
bridges left in America. To celebrate this, there
is a yearly festival called the Covered Bridge
Days. During this time, you can shop vendors with
hand made crafts, eat with your family and friends,
and listen to live music in the park adjacent
to the bridge. Elizabethton is host to many other
yearly festivals and events such as Winterfest,
the Rhododendron festival, and Revolutionary War
Reenactment at historic Sycamore Shoals State
Park. We would love to talk to you about our area
if you need more information.
